We speak with former Adams County Representative Kenneth Cole who served Adams County from 1975-1992. Kenneth gives details about the 1978 race in Adams County between himself and Donald Moul, father of Rep. Dan Moul. The first count ended in a tie. This created national news for the county. Not only were local results stalled but the PA house was deadlocked and the winner of the Adams County seat would determine the state house majority. Kenneth shares with us a documentary created by JCPenny to convey the importance of every vote. The documentary give a rare look at 1978 Adams County. The documentary also feature an interview with the Honorable K. Leroy Irvis, at the time Irvis was Pennsylvania’s Speaker of the House and the first African American to serve as a speaker in any state legislature in the United States since Reconstruction.
